Dub Pistols – A Band Still Charging Forward
With support from The Barefoot Bandit
The Dub Pistols’ long, winding journey took another powerful step forward last night, as the band delivered an explosive performance that showed exactly why their fanbase has stayed devoted through every twist, turn, and triumph. With a new album on the way, their own festival thriving, and both a documentary and book in production, the renegade Pistoleros proved once again that they have no intention of slowing down.
From Big Beat Beginnings to a Boundary-Breaking Live Force
Born from the big beat explosion of the mid-90s, the Dub Pistols evolved from studio experimenters inspired by the Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim into one of the UK’s most dynamic live acts. Their early breakthrough tracks — including “There’s Gonna Be A Riot,” “Best Get Better,” the Westway EP, and “Cyclone” — set the tone for a career built on energy, invention, and collaboration.
On stage, their evolution was unmistakable. The band tore through classics spanning their entire catalogue, honouring their roots while showcasing the tight, genre-fusing sound that has made them festival favourites for decades. Their history of collaborations, including their work with the late Terry Hall of The Specials, echoed through the set — a reminder of the band’s deep connections across UK music culture.
What’s Next for the Dubs
Last night’s show also gave fans a taste of what’s coming. Their new studio album Enter The Sound, created with The Freestylers, lands in early 2025. A live reggae album and a special vinyl re-press of their debut Point Blank are also on the way. With a documentary and book currently in development, the Dub Pistols’ story is far from finished.
